Former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe has died, the ex-legislator death comes months after those of his two wives.
Two weeks ago Kajembe’s wife died after battling COVID-19.
The former MP who also tested positive died at Mombasa’s Pandya Hospital where he was undergoing treatment on Friday, August 7.
According to his family, Kajembe was admitted to Pandya Hospital two weeks ago.
Kajembe did not attend his first wife Aziza’s burial as he was hospitalised, she had been admitted at Mombasa Hospital over suspected COVID-19 complications.
Four months before Aziza’s death, Kajembe’s second wife Zaharia died, she was mother-in-law to Jomvu MP Badi Twalib.
In 2017, the former MP lost his son, Seif Kajembe who died in India after kidney failure.
Kajembe entered Parliament under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket from 1997 to 2007. He also served as an assistant minister.
Kenyan leaders led by Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto mourned Kajembe.
”We have lost a charismatic, progressive, and diligent leader who served the people of Changamwe with courage and distinction. Ramadhan Seif Kajembe was a focused and committed public servant who will be remembered for his wise counsel and leadership above party politics.” Ruto said.
