A Kenyan MP, Adan Keynan has showed displeasure for the arrest and mistreatment journalist Yassin Juma by Ethiopian government.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan said the Arrest of Yassin Juma was malicious, oppresive, offensive and capricious.
Keynan was speaking on Thursday, September 10, during the National Assembly proceedings.
The legislator said Yassin and Kenyans need an explanation why he was arrested.
”The Arrest of Yassin Juma was malicious, oppressive, offensive and capricious to the extent that upto now he was not clearly told the offence he committed. We need an explanation as to why he was arrested or an unconditional apology for the way he was treated,” Keynan said.
Keynan also questioned why Kenyans were being treated badly my neighbouring countries, the MP demanded for respect as Kenya was an economic hub in the region.
Yassin Juma was released last week after outrage from Kenyans, media and activists around the world, the journalist had been covering stories in Oromia region of Ethiopia before his arrest.
Yassin was detained for more than 40 days and during his time in detention was infected by COVID-19, he wrote an emotional letter to a Kenyan media house revealing the desperate condition he was in and appealed for assistance from Kenyan authorities.
